Church Property Committee

The Property Committee responds to issues that relate to the church building as they arise. This committee evaluates and maintains the fitness of the structure, as well as facilitates desired projects as mandated by the Church Council. This committee manages projects by planning changes, tendering and overseeing contractors, and maintaining budgets for any work done to the building. This committee also reviews potential rentals, or other requests for building use and co-signs these agreements
Faith Formation Committee
Chairperson: Christina Whittmire
We will aide, support and encourage existing committees, groups and members of Southminster United Church to build spirituality, develop community, provide care and participate in the ministry of the whole church. We will endeavour to challenge and support congregational growth by using the gifts, insights and talents God has given us all.
ELDERS & PASTORAL CARE COMMITTEE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Chairperson: Wanda Henderson
1. Secure a full team of elders who will make contact with the members of their district at least
fourtimes/year by visiting, calling, sending notes, etc.
2. Maintain services in Lodges and Nursing Homes.
3. Inform the ministers of any folks in their districts who need pastoral care.
4. Host a 75 & Over Birthday Party once a year.
To welcome newcomers into our midst.
1. Provide Newcomer’s Packages to all folks who wish them.
2. Host Newcomer’s Breakfasts twice a year
3. Ensure that newcomers are welcomed.
4. Assign newcomers to Elder’s districts.
To ensure that the Elder’s districts and lists are updated regularly.
1. Update Elder’s bulletin board at least once a year.
To assist the ministers with hospital visitation by providing a hospital visitor(s) who will visit weekly.
To support the goals of Stephen Ministry and Prayer Chain.
To keep the congregation informed about the church life of Southminster.
1. Approve baptisms and memberships.
To provide a comprehensive program of pastoral care.
Music & Worship Committee Mission Statement . . .

To be responsible to the Church Council in consultation with the ministers and liaison with the choir director (music director), organist and congregation, for the order of the services, the selection of hymns, the conduct and content of the special services, the liturgy, special pulpit supply, and the use of the sanctuary.
